Mouse Behavioral Unit (MBU)
Objectives:
In order to understand the mechanisms of action of resilience, experiments on animals (mice, rats) are necessary at the LIR. Without a fundamental understanding of these, the goal of promoting resilience in humans and thus preventing stress-induced diseases cannot be achieved.
For our experiments on mice and rats, we use behavioral experiments and imaging, cell biological and (neuro)physiological methods.
The MBU offers standardized experimental conditions for projects within the LIR and for collaborations with external partners, also as a service unit
This is carried out in close cooperation with the Animal Welfare and the authorities.
Experimental equipment:
Behavioral models related to resilience, e.g. stress
Long-term observation (incl. experimenter-free)
Instrumental equipment for surgical procedures
(Neuro)physiological observation and intervention techniques
Respirometry and telemetry
Video analysis
Tests on basic behaviors
posture analysis
